Residence and Re-entry

  • International students staying here for only one semester do not nedd to apply for an Alien Resident Certificate.
  • With a visitor visa, you may stay here for sixty days and you can apply at Foreign Affairs Division of Hualien Police Headquarters for a maximum of two extensions, each for sixty days.

  • The applicants are required to apply for extension within two weeks prior to the expiration of a visitor visa. An applicants needs to: fill out a copy of Multiple-purpose Application Form for Foreign Residents, submit the original and a copy of passport, submit the original and a copy of student ID, Certification of Student Status for University.
Remarks: Student holding multiple-entry visa may re-enter Taiwan within the valid period stated on the visa; Student holding single-entry visa and if he/she leaves Taiwan, he/she will need to apply for visa from overseas in order to re-enter Taiwan again; If you still stay in Taiwan after your Visitor Visa or Resident Certificate expires, you will be fined and be expected to leave the country within the scheduled time frame as well. If not, you will be deported.
